Support for Ukraine 

In support of her brothers and sisters in Ukraine, Maestro Wilson returns to the embattled country for the third time this season for a concert in Kyiv on Saturday, March 22nd, at the National Philharmonic Hall. As Music Director of the Kyiv Camerata, Ukraine’s leading chamber orchestra, Ms. Wilson will lead a program of contemporary Ukrainian works, including the world premiere of Victoria Vita Poleva’s “Turn the River”, and the Ukrainian premiere of distinguished American composer Missy Mazzoli’s double bass concerto, “Dark with Excessive Bright,” inspired by Milton’s Paradise Lost.

The program will also feature the works by Ivan Karabits, Valentyn Bibik, Borys Lyatoshynsky and Oleksandr Rodin..

Concert Program:

"After Reading Lovecraft" by Oleksandr Rodin—a mystical piece inspired by the literature of H.P. Lovecraft.

Concerto-Symphony for Violin, Viola, and Chamber Orchestra by Valentyn Bibik with soloists Bohdana Pivnenko, violin, and Kateryna Suprun, viola—a monumental composition by the Kharkiv-born composer, revealing a rich palette of expressive techniques while maintaining a unique depth and structure.
Ukrainian Premieres:

The World Premiere of Victoria Vita Poleva’s  "Turn the River" based on the famous Ukrainian folk song “Plive Kacha”, which became famous during the Maidan Revolution in Kyiv in 2014.

The Ukrainian Premiere of "Dark with Excessive Bright" concerto for Bass and String Orchestra by Missy Mazzoli, one of the most renowned contemporary American composers, whose works are performed by leading orchestras worldwide.

Concert-Triptych for Strings by Ivan Karabits—a founding figure of "Kyiv Camerata" and a key contributor to the revival of Ukrainian music.

The concert will culminate with Borys Lyatoshynsky’s famous “Melody” arranged for solo violin and string orchestra featuring Bohdana Pivnenko.
