Supporting Ukraine

Maestro Wilson continued her unshakeable support of Ukraine with performances in Lviv and Kyiv in May. First, she prepared and conducted Ukrainian composer Yuli Meitus’ opera, Stolen Happiness, at the Lviv National Opera on May 26th.

Then, it was on to Kyiv where Wilson led the Kyiv Camerata, Ukraine’s leading chamber orchestra, in a performance of all-Ukrainian contemporary compositions at the National Philharmonic Hall, on May 30th. The program was in honor of Ukraine’s fallen heroes. Watch an excerpt here:

On May 31, Wilson conducted a special concert, also with the Kyiv Camerata, in commemoration of Ukrainian Children’s Day at the historic and spiritual center of Kyiv, the beautiful St. Sophia’s Cathedral, in the presence of Olena Zelenska, Ukraine’s First Lady and the patron of the Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra.

Following her performances, Wilson visited her ancestral home of Chernivitsi.

Wilson begins rehearsals at the beginning of July in Warsaw for this summer’s international Beethoven Ninth Freedom Tour with the Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra.
